Life After School: The Struggle, The Depression, The Anxiety… Yet We Push
We all grew up with that dream: “Finish school, get a good job, start enjoying life.” But the reality after school hits differently.
No one tells you about the waiting seasons — the endless CVs sent without replies, the pressure from family, the awkward conversations when people ask, “So, what are you doing now?” For some, it’s the job rejections. For others, it’s no opportunities at all. And in between all these, depression and anxiety sneak in.
You start comparing your life with old classmates on social media. You see some getting good jobs, traveling abroad, starting businesses. Meanwhile, you’re stuck asking yourself, “When will it be my turn?”
The nights feel heavy. The days drag. Your mind keeps running in circles: “Maybe I studied the wrong course. Maybe I’m not good enough. Maybe I’m already behind.”
But here’s the truth no one says loudly: you are not alone. Almost everyone goes through this phase — the silent struggle after school. And it doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It only means you are on a different timeline.
Yes, the depression is real. Yes, anxiety eats away at hope sometimes. But despite it all, we wake up, we keep pushing, and we keep trying. That’s courage. That’s strength. That’s survival.
So if you’re reading this, remind yourself: your story isn’t over. This season of struggle is shaping you, stretching you, preparing you. Doors will open. Opportunities will come. And when they do, you’ll look back and realize every tear, every prayer, every sleepless night was part of your becoming.
Until then, breathe. Keep pushing. Keep believing. The struggle is not the end — it’s just the middle of your journey.
